- Fauxx is an open-source privacy tool that protects you by generating diverse, believable synthetic browsing activity in the background. By feeding data brokers and ad-tech platforms plausible off-demographic decoy activity that reads as real people, Fauxx makes your genuine behavioral signal indistinguishable from convincing fakes — deception, not easily-filterable noise. HOW IT WORKS Fauxx runs quietly in the background and performs diverse browsing activities across many topic categories — searches, page visits, DNS lookups, a stable per-persona device identity, and ad profile pollution. The goal is to bury your real interests under a stream of coherent, believable decoy activity so that data brokers can't tell which "you" is real. FEATURES • Diverse search queries across Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, and Yandex on topics far from your real interests, with per-engine opt-out • Varied website visits across dozens of content categories • Ad profile pollution — loads ad-heavy pages to inject off-demographic ad signals • Stable per-persona device identity: a coherent Chrome User-Agent and matching client hints per synthetic persona, not random rotation • Optional encrypted DNS (DNS-over-HTTPS) for Fauxx's own traffic, so a Pi-hole or VPN that blocks tracker domains does not stop it • DNS query diversification • Smart targeting engine with 3 layers of demographic distancing • Synthetic persona rotation — adopts a new fake identity every week • Poisson-distributed timing that mimics natural human browsing patterns • Full audit log with CSV/JSON export • On-device encryption for all personal data (SQLCipher + Android Keystore) • No accounts, no cloud storage, no analytics, no telemetry OPTIONAL DEMOGRAPHIC TARGETING Tell Fauxx about yourself (age, gender, interests, profession, region) and it will generate decoy activity that's maximally different from your real profile.
