Kai is a private AI assistant. Kai does RAG on your Mac. Kai also gives you AI answers when you are away from your desk. There is no sign-up. Your account is an anonymous Nostr key. Your phone makes the key. Only you hold the key. Open the app and ask a question. Type the question, or speak it in a natural conversation. Your chat history is stored on your device. Unsaved chats wash away after 7 days. Answers, generated images and sources awaiting delivery may be held on the server until you receive them or they expire, for no longer than 48 hours. Your RAG data stays on the Mac at your home. PRIVACY - Your External Brain index stays on your Mac. With your consent, reports include the reported answer, its first picture if present and an optional note. Reports are retained for moderation for 90 days. - Your phone can replace supported private data in documents with anonymous placeholders before sending. Contextual name detection is currently English-only and can miss names or redact neighboring words. - Back up your key to recover your account if you lose your phone. Use Wash to clear local conversations. A REAL CONVERSATION - Talk without your hands. Kai listens, answers out loud, and stops when you speak. - Use interpreter mode. Select two languages. Kai translates both directions while you talk. - Kai understands and answers in all major languages. You can select from eight voices: British, American, Australian and African American, a woman and a man of each. USEFUL EVERY DAY - Kai finds current answers from the web. Kai also uses the linked folders on your Mac (RAG). - Attach photos and documents in one question. Kai understands PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more. - Kai makes and changes images. - Share a web page to Kai. Kai reads the page aloud. - Export any answer to a file. HONEST PRICING - There is no subscription. You buy prepaid credit only when you want to. - Add credit with Bitcoin Lightning. The credit is ready in seconds. Every Lightning payment adds 15 percent more credit. - Kai shows the exact cost of each answer. An answer usually costs about one cent. The same key gives you your balance in web chat at usek.ai.
